Welcome to the Long Beach, CA Delta Gamma Alumnae website!

Long Beach Delta Gamma Alumnae

CO-PRESIDENTS’ MESSAGE for 2008 – 2009
Hello from Bette Jo Miller and Sharon Eastman

Welcome to a new year of sharing Delta Gamma sisterhood and serving for sight! Whether you are a new graduate, a “rusty anchor” or a long-time member of our Long Beach chapter, we welcome you to share your Delta Gamma alumna experience with us.

We had the privilege of representing you this summer at the DG Convention in Palm Desert. We were joined by our collegiate chapter president, Julie Behr; our ATC, Carmen Hernandez; Kay Reid and Kelsey Regan. We were delighted to share the five days of meetings, motivation and celebration with all; especially, Kay, who shared her expertise from having served in so many capacities for our Gamma Chi chapter, our alumnae chapter and our fraternity. We were thrilled to witness Shaun Young’s election and installation as our Fraternity VP Membership. It is a dynamic group of women who are serving on the Delta Gamma Council and Cabinet; we can be proud of each one of them. Congratulations, Shaun!!! Log on to deltagamma.org to get more details about Convention and experience the incredible new myDG feature.

This is the year we celebrate Gamma Chi’s 50th year at Long Beach State! Please save the weekend of March 14, 2009. Can you believe it has been 50 years since the first Gamma Chis were initiated? A lot of memories were made in that First Street House with 17 collegians sharing one bathroom! Our emphasis event will be a Saturday luncheon at the Long Beach Yacht Club. We have reserved the LBYC for 300 women. If we exceed that number in responses, then we will happily change to a larger venue. Have you responded to Anne St. John that you are making plans to attend(annekstjohn@yahoo.com)? It is our hope that Gamma Chis from all initiation years will come together for small gatherings all weekend long. This is the year to call your DG sisters and make plans to be in Long Beach on Saturday, March 14, 2009. Renew friendships, create new memories. After all, we are always anchored, always Delta Gamma!

This August, for the first time, you will be receiving by mail an invoice from Executive Offices for your fraternity dues of $20.50. In the past, as an alumnae chapter, we have paid your per capita dues from the local dues we have collected. So this year will be different. Please pay your DG dues directly to the fraternity when you receive your mailing. We also encourage you to pay your local membership dues to keep our chapter active and strong. You will receive more information about local dues in the newsletter we will mail to you later this summer. If you have never received a newsletter mailing from us, let us know your mailing address and we will include you (please email your mailing address to Sharon Eastman at rockyeastman@verizon.net).

Our 2008 – 2009 calendar is filled with opportunities for fellowship, education and service. Our first meeting will be Tuesday evening, October 7th at Sharon Eastman's home. We look forward to sharing with you an exciting year ahead!

ITB,
Bette Jo and Sharon
